Created in 1503 by a Portuguese nobleman, the port of Agadir became an important port of call on the sea route to Africa. It was also a centre for caravans on the fringes of the Sahara. The commercial and military antagonisms where fed by the presence of seamen, soldiers and merchants from all over Europe. Agadir fell into decline in 1760, when the sultan Mohammed ben Abdullah chose to punish the city by closing it's harbour to European traffic and creating a rival port in Essaouira. In 1960, an earthquake that killed 15,000 brought the town back into people's memories in which Agadir was rebuilt becoming a modern town of tourism.

Beach: The beach is spectacular. Clean, long, wide and there is a continuous breeze coming in from the Atlantic which makes it the top place to spend the day.
The Fish Market:The surprise tourist attraction of Agadir. With very little tourist attractions in Agadir most cruise lines and tour operators will throw in the fish market as an attraction. A true gem of an attraction based on its size alone!
The Town Zoo: Home to a small but charming collection of exotic birds, and lamas.
