Climate and current weather information for Great Stirrup Cay: Hot and Tropical! Be sure to layer on the sunscreen as the rays here can be very intense. Because of the Gulf Stream, winters in the Great Stirrup Cay are fairly mild, about 10°F/5°C degrees warmer than in nearby Florida. The summers can be humid, rainy and warm (day temperatures reaching into the low 90°F/33°C), but are moderated by trade winds. High season is from November to mid April, when the weather is generally good. Hurricane season is from July to October, and most rain falls at that time. There really is no bad time to go, but take along at least a sweater during the winter. Average day temperatures in fall and spring are in the 70s-80s °F/23-32°C, with nights in the 60s°F /15-22°C. Winter temperatures can be about 10°F/5°C cooler.

Passengers are tendered to shore in order to protect the island's reef.
Norwegian Cruise Lines was the first to come up with the idea of your own private island in the 1970's, where you can spend an afternoon of calm surf and sand. Great Stirrup Cay has everything in the way of amenities and activities. The beach, of course, is the main enticement, offering swimming, snorkeling (coral reefs surround the island), rafts, paddleboats, catamarans, and kayaks. For those who prefer to stay on terra firma , there are volleyball courts and hiking trails where maybe you can discover the island's lighthouse.
Hungry or just wanting to quench your thirst, no problem, There are beach barbeques to help with that along with the beach bar. Music arrives courtesy of a calypso band so you can enjoy the rest of your day in style no matter if that includes swinging in a palm-shaded
>hammock or enjoying a fun and limber limbo contest, the day is yours
