Attractions

Called "the most beautiful fjord in the world," Geirangerfjord invites exploration. The best and least expensive way to see the majesty of the fjord is to take a regular ferry service between the port of Hellesylt and Geiranger, with sails daily from May to September. An organized tour, however, gives you a greater view, going closer to the banks.
Mt. Dalsnibba:
Here you will find the spectac view of the village of Geiranger, the fjord and its surrounding mountains. Follow the fascinating road to the summit of Mt Dalsnibba which stands at 5000 feet. From this point you can see far beyond the Geirangerfjord when the weather is clear.
Stryn:
A brief stroll around this small town that is known for summer glacier skiing excursions in the nearby mountains.
Unique Mountain Farm of Herdalsetra:
Here you will have a chance to visit one of few still operative summer mountain farms in Norway. With 450 goats and 30 farm houses this is probably the largest farm co-operative for goats in Norway.
Geiranger Church:
A tiny octagonal church that is perched along the cliffs of the Fjord.
The Flydalsjuvet:
A second great excursion is the Flydalsjuvet, lying 4km (2 1/2 miles) south of Geiranger. This gigantic overhanging rock, opening onto the fjord, is the most photographed in Norway, especially by cruise-ship passengers. To reach it, take the sign-posted road to Stryn until you see the turnoff.
Dalsnibba:
Geiranger is also blessed with having some of the finest excursions in the fjord country, notably to Dalsnibba, lying 21km (13 miles) to the south. Opened in 1889, this dramatic road goes through a valley hemmed in by tall mountains until it reaches a lookout point at 1,500m (4,921 ft.). There are many panoramic lookout points along the way. You're rewarded with a dramatic view at the top. As one local told us, "This is the lookout point where Satan took Jesus to tempt him with the beauty of the world."

Shopping in Geiranger is rich and varied. Their are a great range of handicraft traditions such as wood-carvings, weaving and knitted goods. When shopping for the perfect gift you will be helped by a friendly staff offering good service in small, exciting shops.
