A highlight of the fjordlands is the tiny Hellesylt, a fruit growing center which lies at the head of Sunnylvenfjord. Near the village of Hellesylt is a glacier-fed stream that plunges over the granite face of the fjord, cascading in thousands of feet. A majestic area, with breathtaking glaciers and mountain lakes. A small ferry port on the magnificent Geirangerfjord, overlooks the eye-catching Hellesylt waterfall and the sheer cliffsides that plunge to Horindalsvannet, Europe's deepest lake at approximately 2,000 feet. A cross-country excursion between Hellesylt and Geiranger offers cruise passengers a glimpse of some of Norway's most spectacular mountain scenery.
