Climate and current weather information for St George: Ocean winds are tempered by the Gulf Stream. When south winds prevail, the humidity rises and sometimes thunderstorms occur. The highest humidity months are July and August. Temperatures rarely drop below 55°F/13°C degrees or exceed 90°F/32°C degrees.
 
In 1609 when the Sea Venture wrecked just off the coast, the first settlement of Bermuda began. St. George's parish is comprised of two large islands, St. George's and St. David's. The town of St. George's was the second oldest English town in the New World for approximately two centuries. The capital of Bermuda, it is named for both Sir George Somers, who was the founder of Bermuda, and Saint George, the was the patron Saint of England. The King Square is the center of all activity in St. George's. The Visitor's Information Center is on the Square, and it provides helpful maps and walking guides of the town. When the clock strikes 12noon in King's Square, life is transformed back to the 17th century and the Town Crier greets those assembled with the time and events of the day.

The botanical gardens, the natural history museum, the aquarium, the zoo and the limestone caves. View sea life from a glassbottom boat. Learn and get an up close view on Bermuda's ecosystem on a kayak adventure.

St. George history, via its plethora of forts that date back to the 17th century. These coastal defense structures are made of stone and represent a virtual timeline of the Bermudian history. From its status as a tiny British outpost in the 1600s to its peak as the “Gibraltar of the West” in the 1800s. Those that are open for visiting include Fort St. Catherine, Alexandra Battery, Gates Fort, Burnt Point Fort and Ferry Island Fort.

Other historic attractions include The Globe Hotel, St. Peter’s Church, the Tucker House Museum, and St. George’s Historical Society Museum.

The nearby attractions on Bermuda’s East End include the Bermuda Glassblowing Studio & Showroom and the Bermuda Perfumery. Your cruise ship will more than likely have shore excursions offered to both. A few others are the Crystal Caves of Bermuda and the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo.

Rent a bicycle and ride the 18-mile Bermuda Railway Trail. This trail runs the island’s length!

Beaches
Best beach for a half-day visit: Tobacco Bay. This beach is within walking distance from town. Equipped with full facilities.

Best beach for snorkelling: Achilles Bay Park. This is adjacent to Fort St. Catherine.

Best beach for watersports: South Shor's, Elbow Beach and Horseshoe Bay Beach Watersports rentals and snack bars are available.
