Jasper, the largest of Canada's National Parks with a small mountain resort town that is hidden away inside the park. Located on the eastern slope of the Canadian Rockies. From the rugged scenery of the gouged Maligne Canyon to the picturesque Maligne Lake, Jasper is beautiful. Vistors have many options when it comes to sightseeing, theserene beauty of glacier covered Mount Edith Cavell, the hiking along any of the 1,000 km of trails or a relaxing soak in the Miette Hot Springs.
Jasper has a combination of wildlife, beautiful blue-green mountain lakes, tall peaks and broad valleys. More than 3 million pass through the gates and more than 1.8 million people a year visit the park here. Visitors will continue to come to Jasper to experience the unique wilderness and World Heritage Site.
There are plenty of guided tours offer to those who want to explore with a guide. The Discover Jasper & Maligne Lake Tour will include Old Fort Point, Medicine Lake, Maligne Lake, and Maligne Canyon. The Voyageur Canoe Excursion is narrated by costumed guides who provide the history of local mountains Pyramid, Edith Cavell, Tekarra, and the Collin Range. High Country Helicopters can take visitors “heli-hiking.” Specialized tours for fishing, dog sled, and snowmobile tours are available through Jaspeer Outdoor Adventures. There are even late night walks under the full moon and early morning bird-watching walks. These are offered by the Friends of Jasper National Park. Jasper National Park can be explored by horseback, as well.

The Jasper Tramway: A ride to the top of Whistlers Mountain, an elevation of 2,500 miles. Visitors will enjoy the breathtaking view of the Athabasca Valley. At the top is a restaurant, gift shop and hiking trails.
Goat Lookout: Located 23 miles south of Jasper's town centre is a great place to see wild mountain goats and bighorn sheep.
Icefields Parkway: A spectacular route that travels past unforgettable scenery through both Banff and Jasper National Parks. Named for the icefields that spread through the Rockies. Considered to be among the world's most scenic highways.
Columbia Icefield: A massive field of ancient ice that covers 325 sq km (125 sq miles). It reaches depths estimated at 385 m (1,270 ft). The icefields are composed of the Athabasca, Stutfield and Dome glaciers. It straddles the Continental Divide and feeds four of the continent’s major river systems: the Columbia, Fraser, Mackenzie and Saskatchewan. The Meltwaters from the icefield flow to the Pacific, Arctic and Atlantic oceans.
Maligne Lake: One of the largest attractions in Jasper National Park. Choices of activities include scenic cruises to the world-famous Spirit Island, white water rafting, horsebackriding, guided trout fishing, hiking, and canoeing.
Athabasca Falls: The force of the Athabasca River runs into a narrow canyon cut in very hard, quartz-rich sandstone rock. There are plenty of viewpoints located within the falls.
Miette Hot Springs: Three outdoor bathing pools consisting of two hot pools and one cold pool. They are fed by hot sulphur springwater, the hottest water (54 degrees C) in the Canadian Rockies. Visitors will find local geology, hiking trails, a cafe, gift shop. Plenty of outdoor picnic areas are available to enjoy the outdoors.
The many lakes offer dining, shopping, horseback riding, cycling and boating. Lake Edith and Lake Annette offer sandy beaches, grassy areas, and hiking trails. Patricia and Pyramid Lakes offer boating, fishing, and windsurfing during summer cruising months. You can cross-country ski and ice skate in the winter. The Athabasca and Maligne Rivers offer excellent white-water rafting.
