Climate and current weather information for Kamloops: The climate in summer is usually warm and dry. Snow falls during the Winter at the higher elevations and mild temperatures prevail in the low-lying areas. There are more than 2,000 hours of sunshine,making Kamloops the Sun & Snow Capital of the BC interior. Temperatures during summer cruising months average 70°F/21°C.
 
Kamloops, the third largest city in the Interior of BC offers visitors the amenities of what a big city would offer. "Kamloops", the word comes from the Shuswap language - Tk'emlups - and means, "where the waters meet".
First Nations people and fur traders took advantage of the location of Kamloops, at the junction of where two rivers meet. Kamloops is easily reached, and has four major highways, the Trans Canada, Yellowhead, Coquihalla, and Highway 97, all of which meet in Kamloops. Air and rail connections in Kamloops are offered to travelers from all over the world. Kamloops is known for its hospitality. Kamloops is the Tournament Capital of Canada, hosting many tournaments and sporting events.
Fishing is very popular in Kamloops. There are more than 200 lakes within an hour's drive of Kamloops, with 1000 of those that consider themselves to be in fish paradise. You can rent a boat, hire an experienced guide, and even catch a lesson to perfect your fishing skills. Kamloops Wildlife Park:
A chance to visit the Siberian tigers and Grizzly bears. Experience the zoological facility that provides conservation through education. Board the Wildlife Express, a miniature train, the children's zoo, walk through a waterfall.
Riverside Park:
An area for swimming during the summer months. Festivals are held here throughout the year. There is a playground and The River Kids Centennial Water Park can also be found here.
Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park:
Home of the Adams River, one of the largest sockeye salmon runs in B.C. A 988-hectare area that consists of forests, canyons, terraces and flood plains. Animals such as bears, deer, beavers, river otter and mink inhabit the park.
Kamloops Heritage Railway - The Steam Train:
An operating steam train. The steam engine #2141 takes visitors through a guide back in time to the age of steam. Offered are a short 10km trip, or a whole day 140km adventure.
Kamloops Museum and Archives:
There are three floors of exhibits that are devoted to local and regional history.
Secwepemc Museum & Heritage Park:
Life and hsitory before European settlement are what this museum dedicates itself to. Learn about the culture and language of the Shuswap people as well. Ethnobotanical gardens and a walking trail are also available.
Other attractions include the weekly Farmer's Market, a world-class wildlife park, nine golf courses, many miles of walking and biking trails, and scenic boat tours are some of the reasons why Kamloops is popular with so many visitors.
