Climate and current weather information for Osaka Japan: Summer months are hot and humid with much rain in June, hottest months are July and August average tempter 84°F/29°C.Winters are mild (40-50°F/5-10°C) and bring usually no more than an occasional dusting of snow. The wettest months, the so-called rainy (tsuyu) season, are June and July. Typhoon season in Japan is June-November, but rarely do these storms wreak havoc on the city. April, May, October and November are the best months to visit because temperatures range a pleasant 60-70°F/15-20°C.

Osaka is on the western Honshu Island, and is located on Osaka Bay, at the entry of the Yodo River, which issouth of Kyoto. Osaka lively and cultural, is one of the largest cities in Japan, in size and in population, it ranks among the busiest ports in the nation. Streets narrow, traffice extreme, and city life is energetic! The city's prominence as a trading city started with the building of Osaka Castle in 1586 by the Japanese General and Statesman Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Today Osaka is a major industrial, financial and commercial center. The city is intersected by many canals, crossed by bridges and has several museums and parks.

Amerika-Mura (America Village), a hyper-trendy shopping enclave where a distinctly Japanese spin is put on the best (and more often the worst) of western fashion and paraded outrageously.
National Bunraku Theatre (puppet theatre), which was made popular in Osaka and where the traditional art form still captivates. If you can catch a performance while in Osaka it is an amazing experience.
Universal Studios,Osaka's (and Japan's) latest theme park in a country mad about them. The park features the latest in thrills, & frights with Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, Backdraft, ET and Jaws rides. There are also the obligatory wacky stunt shows and more merchandise than you can swipe a credit card at. The Universal Studios train station is 10 minutes from Osaka station on the JR Yumesaki (Sakurajima) line.
