Cruise ships dock at the Port of Pusan. From here, public transportation and taxis can be easily caught to take you into the heart of nearby downtown.
Located between the mountains and the sea. Pusan is the second city of South Korea. It is a big industrial port with almost 4 million inhabitants. It is nit a very attractive city, but there are a few nice beaches nearby. More importantly : Pusan is also the departure point for Cheju Island.
Take in the view from Pusan Tower in Yongdusan Park and visit the Yi Sun-shin statue, the fish market (best seen 6-7 am) the U.N. Cemetery (where fallen U.N. soldiers from the Korean War are buried) and the Municipal Museum.

Mt. Kaji is a great destination if you are willing to hop a bus to nearby Yangsan. It is about a half an hour away, and buses run fairly regularly, but it is well worth the extra effort. At Mt. Kaji you can hike for miles and take in the views offered by the rock walls, peaks, and temples that have been erected there. This government-protected park is well preserved and widely respected for its natural grandeur.
The Chagalchi Fish Market is a fun place for tourists to be at dawn. Here you can watch as local fishermen bring in their catch for the day and unload pounds and pounds of fresh seafood onto the docks. The public can then buy the seafood on the spot at very cheap prices.
Yongdusan Park in the very center of town is the perfect place to see the sunset. If you can handle it, climb to the top deck of the tower there and take a look at the panoramic views of Pusan and the water. Go around dusk and watch as the sun fades behind the sailboats. Crowds are known to form at dusk to marvel at the famous purple and orange sunsets.
In nearby Kyungju you will find a tourist attraction that is also enormously significant to the worlds of Buddhism and architecture. The Seokgulan Grotto is a Buddhist shrine and an architectural masterpiece famous for its gorgeous adornments. This is a wonderful place to go and experience stunning art while reading about the Buddhist deities and traditions. This is certainly a site to write home about.
Art enthusiasts will enjoy the new Pusan Metropolitan Museum of Art (1413 Woo-Dong, tel. 051/744-2602) where modern Korean art is on display. The museum is huge, and locals will tell you that even after many visits to the museum, there will always be more to see. Plan to spend at least a couple of hours here, if not more.
Haeundae Beach: on the E part of Pusan. Nice seaside, good for swimming (at summer) Many hotels, restaurants. Popular during summer, a bit "dead" during winter.
Gwanganri Beach:
This beach is very popular with the locals. Take a rest if you like from the hectic streets of Pusan.
Gukje Market:
Here you can find electric appliances, leather goods, clothing, shoes and accessories at the cheapest prices.
