Cruise passengers are tendered to a small pier outside Hora. From the pier you can either take a bus or a short walk to town.
It is a quaint town, which houses the famous white Paraportiani church, a small beach that spreads around a vibrantly colorful harbor. This harbor gets its beauty from the fishing boats and luxury yachts. The streets are lined with picturesque whitewashed houses, little shops, small churches and gorgeous balconies. There are numerous, popular taverns lining the harbor. All these characteristics make this town appear as if it were taken right out of a travel magazine.
Today, Mykonos is one of the most visited and expensive of the all the Greek Islands.
This island also draws a large number of gay tourists. There is no need to worry about discrimination or bashing here. Gay visitors will find that there is a level of comfort here that is rarely found elsewhere. The bars, restaurants car rental agencies, etc., are all gay friendly. The Super Paradise Beach is the most popular among gay visitors.
Attractions

Cruise passengers will find that the best way to get around in Mykonos is by foot. This is due to the fact that the city of Hora is designated a landmark and no cars are allowed down its streets. However, there are small motor scooter taxis that take passengers about the city. If you would like to take a trip around the island, regular taxis are available. There is not very much to Hora in terms of attractions other than the pelican mascots that greet passengers at the pier. If you are into archaeology then a day trip to Delos is recommended. Walking through Horas and seeing the small dome shaped churches, whitewashed houses and windmill museum is like viewing a postcard.
A great trip is to go by boat to Delos and view the ancient ruins in the Sanctuary Area, include the Agora of the Competialists; the Sacred Way, the processional road to the Great Temple of Apollo; the Avenue of Lions with its marble beasts; and the now-dry Sacred Lake.
The Agora
This which serves as the starting point for those who wish to explore the Mount Kynthos district, the remains of the Hellenistic Quarter and the House of Cleopatranot the Egyptian queen.
House of the Dolphins
A small structure which contains mosaic floors depicting cupids riding dolphins.
Beaches
The best beaches are located between Plati Yialos and stretch to Kalafatis, on the south coast of the island. Paradise is probably the most famous as it is a nude beach.
Plati Yialos is the only beach here that does not have a nudist section.
The beaches are very popular therefore, it will be almost impossible to find a secluded spot on any beach here. Wherever your interest lies you will not have a dull moment here. There are beaches here to suit everyone. You can go scuba-diving, snorkeling, sunbathing, windsurfing, and so forth. Just hop on a bus which can take you to and from the beach.
