Climate and current weather information for Odessa Ukraine: The climate is moderately continental and comparatively dry, with a short mild winter and long hot summer. There are more than 290 sunny days in the year.
Since Odessa region is drawn out along the meridian, the climate in the narrow – 30-40 km. – stretch along the coast is practically ideal, with the soft tang of the sea mixing with the scent of the steppes.
The winter average temperature hovers around freezing. Falling snow and minus 10 Celsius is a really rare occurrence, which is usually replaced by a thaw. In summer average temperature is
77°F/25°C, though in summer daytime can get up over 95°F/35°C.

Odessa suffered major damage during World War II, at the hand of the Nazis. Odessa was later proclaimed the "Hero City" as a result of its stand against the Nazis. The largest port on the black Sea is Odessa, which doubles as an area of heavy industry and as a thriving resort with beaches, special saline baths and a great climate. Once the playground of Russian royalty, this city where Pushkin and Gogol lived continues as a major cultural center. When the Russians established their control over the city, they developed it into this bustling seaport. Odessa became the capital of New Russia under Catherine the Great, Odessa.
When you think of Odessa you think romance, humor, excitement and fun. Interestingly enough if you ask anybody if they are Russian or Ukrainian, they will say they are an Odessan. On April 1st, each year people from the ex Soviet Union go to Odessa to see the festivities and jokes. Odessa is well known for it's art and culture, having the second most beautiful and important opera house in the world.
Today the Ukraine has remained a newly independent nation even after surviving Stalin's, the planned famine of Bolshevik in 1932-33 that wiped out between 7 and 10 million lives in the Ukraine, the Nazi occupation that claimed 7.5 million Ukrainians, the Chernobyl disaster in the mid 1980s, and the tumultuous breakup of the Soviet Union.

Odessa attracts many of visitors each year, including cruise passengers, who enjoy spending their holidays here. Visitors either frolic on the beach, relax at a seaside spa, visit the magnificent palaces, just sit around with friendly natives to discuss the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
The city's numerous attractions are greatly influenced by the 19th century French-style buildings. Visit the Vorontsov Palace, the remains of the Turks' fortress Enu Dunia, and the former Stock Exchange. Start on a stroll to Primorsky Boulevard, and end at the historic Potemkin staircase that has 192 steps and extends 455 feet. The neo-classical Opera House which showed such musical events pride and glory is the neo-classical Opera House that saw musical events conducted by Tchaikovsky and ballets featuring Anna Pavlova.
Visit to magnificent Cathedrals of the Assumption and Illinsky, the Art Museum and the Potemkin Steps. See the 'Tiger Gun' captured in 1854 from HMS Tiger during the Crimea War. Take a walk along the Primorsky Boulevard past the Baroque style Opera House, the Palace of Weddings, and the imposing palace of Count Vorontsov.
Odessa is lined with popular beaches, the most popular of which is Arkady's Beach, which is located about 10 minutes from downtown.
Climb the Potemkin Stairway, one of the largest stairways in the world, for a great workout and some fantastic views.

Deribasovskaya Street is where you'll find the Souvenir Market, a bargain hunter's paradise. On Deribovskaya street you will find a variety of restaurants, theaters, concerts, and people.Artists and craftsmen peddle their works directly to the public, and some are stunning. Buy a genuine Ukrainian souvenir: beautifully lacquered nesting dolls; pysansky, the incredibly elaborate, dyed Easter eggs (sometimes made of wood); Byzantine stained glass; and Carpathian embroideries.
