Vigo is situated on an inlet along Spain's northwest Atlantic coast which attributes to its stunning beauty. Vigo has a quaint old town with many steep, curvy, winding and narrow streets. The major port city of Galicia, is known for its seafood. It is located at the northwest corner of the Iberian Peninsula, just to the north of Portugal. The coastline is beautiful with eight hundred beaches of beautiful fine, white sandy beaches and pine trees. The views from the hilltops and mountains are extraordinary. Cruise passengers will find that despite its mild, humid climate Vigo is the sunniest region in the northern coastline of Spain.

Santiago de Compostela: This is a great place of pilgrimage for Catholics.
Cathedral at Plaza del Obradoiro: See the fabulous Romanesque architecture. You will be able to see the great architecture of the cathedral and surrounding buildings.
Hostal Reyes Católicos: A hospital in the past, and now a luxury hotel. Located across from the cathedral is the Palacio de Rajoy. The cathedral is distinct because of its unique combination of Romanesque, Baroque and Ogival Gothic architectural styles. Be sure to see the silver urn (kept beneath the altar) which contains the ashes of St. James, the Apostle of Santiago. Even the door of the cathedral, Pórtico de la Gloria, is itself an attraction.
Visit the Galerias Coruñesas, San Carlos Gardens, Torre de Hércules (Hércules lighthouse) located at one of the breakpoints of La Coruña. You will also see the Castle of San Anton from outside. Be sure to see the Neoclassical collegiate church of Santa María and Barrio del Berbes. See the Museo Quiñones de León with beautiful collections of paintings.
Visit El Castro, and view the now declared Nature Park of Ria de Vigo and the nearby Cies Islands. Before heading for Bayona, you will pass by the Municipal Park "Quiñones de León". Visit Bayona, an important fishing town filled with architectural heritage. Do not miss the opportunity to see the Romanesque Collegiate Church and the Monterreal Palace, now the Parador Nacional de Bayona or Conde de Gondomar which are surrounded by medieval walls.
Beaches: Choose from Playa de Orzán, Playa de Riazor, Samil, Vao, Canildo or the America Beach.
