Climate and current weather information for Golfo Dulce: The climate is hot and tropical. The land here is green year round. December through April are considered the summer months. Daytime temperatures are usually in the 90's/32°C with little or no rain. The rainy season starts around May, where you can expect an afternoon or evening shower. This weather pattern continues until approximately September and then the heavy rains begin and continue through October. Daytime temperatures during the rainy season are normally in the 70's and 80's (21-27°C).

As you sail along the coast, you can stand on the ship's deck and could possibly see one of the thousands of scarlet macaws that inhabit the jungle coastline. Golfo Dulce is where Costa Rica's tropical rainforest meets the Pacific. If you take a close enough and long enough look you may notice the spider monkeys, sloths, iguanas, armadillos, lizards, egrets, toucans, and parrots. Many cruise lines have local naturalists onboard who educate, and entertain as your ship slowly sails the deep green coast of Golfo Dulce.
The Golfo Dulce Lodge is surrounded by the main rainforest of Piedras Blancas National Park and the clear waters of the Golfo Dulce. The lodge consists of more than 750 acres of untouched environment away from tourist crowds.
The various ecosystems and the abundance of wildlife will leave a long lasting impression for nature and animal lovers alike. Adjacent to the extensive lodge grounds, Zoo Ave maintains a release station for rescued and formerly domesticated Scarlet Macaw's, thus an encounter with that magic bird is almost guaranteed. The rugged cliffs that drop hundreds of feet to the ocean, the dense mangrove swamps, high plateaus, and soaring mountains make this stop a beautiful and exciting one. Tourists and experts alike are fascinated by the tropical rainforests that come right to the shore.
There is an 800-acre, palm-lined and orchid-trimmed beach located on the eastern shore of the Golfo Dulce. It is heavenly. It is here at the foot of the rain forest, that you may choose go hiking where you can see toucans and howler monkeys. You will also want to visit the Casa Orquideas (Orchid House), a private 90-acre botanical garden with lots of ornamental tropical plants.
