First the good parts: Going to Fanning Island is a neat adventure. The island choices in Hawaii are quite good. Rent a car by hitting the dock and jump on a car rental bus of your choice. Stateroom and bath, although a bit smaller than on other lines, seems clean and even pretty. Full of first-timers, but certainly friendly, along with most of staff. The extra-cover charge restaurants are very pretty and not too expensive. Good food there. We have 425 days on other lines.
Now the less than pretty parts: The management staff seems four-thumbed and not too bright, as planning seemed curiously absent. Took 2 hours to get ashore in Kiribati and over an hour in the scalding sun to get back aboard. They couldn't even plan a line that coursed under the nearby trees.
The bath always smelled, curtain to divide room was missing, drawers were more like shelves, and on arrival bath had no soap or floor mat. Luggage took from 1:30 to 6:00 to arrive. Plenty of room under bed for suitcases because bed was about what you get with a convertible sofa. Tenders crashed together on one occasion. Room service was never on time, often 30 mins. to 1 hour late in morning, when time can be at a premium. Beauty salon said they had one stylist, but they lost her halfway in cruise. One excursion bus had a head-on with another driver, and ambulances had to be called. All in all, the title should have been "Keystone Cops meet Motel 6 with lifeboats".
Would never again consider NCL based on these and many more goofups recorded during the cruise.
