THE WORST TRIP OF MY LIFE. There was an EPIDEMIC on the ship of severe vomiting and diarrhea. I vomited for 15 hours without stop and had diarrhea as well. I had a fever of 101-102. The level of vomiting and diarrhea I experienced was life threatening because it can lead to fatal dehydration. My husband had diarrhea for 3 days.

When the ship's nurse arrived at my room, she did not ask me what my symptoms were. She already knew what I had - she said it was a virus. She gave me a shot to stop the nausea and vomiting. It didn't work. We were quarantined to our room for 48 hours.

Once they knew we were sick, they sent only "special cleaning crews" to our room dressed in protective outer garments and face masks. Our regular cabin steward was not allowed to enter our room during the quarantine.

We saw the "special cleaning crews" going in and out of most of the staterooms on our deck for the duration of the cruise. When you called for the nurse or the special cleaning crews, it took a long time for them to get to your room. They were very backed up with all the sick people on the ship. All the while they were really trying to downplay how many people were sick on the ship. They didn't want the severity of it to get out.

After disembarking, I met a woman who told me she had been sick (vomiting & diarrhea) on two other cruises. Different cruise lines - not Princess. Apparently all of the cruise lines have this problem. The fact that the passengers always get vomiting & diarrhea, and not the more common cold, is very suspicious. This indicated that the illness is not being caused by a sick passenger coming on board.

An epidemiologist I know said that the "virus" was probably living in the blankets/bedspreads/drapes or the ventilation system of the ship. Another possibility is that there are asymptomatic crew members who are carriers. About two hours after we disembarked, new people boarded the ship and entered the staterooms of those who had been violently ill. I hate to think about what kind of a cruise they had.
